Titans beat Centralia 4-0 at home
TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma soccer dominated Centralia College with a decisive 4-0 victory at home on Wednesday.
Tacoma's offense was led by a first-half surge, scoring three goals in the opening half.
The first half commenced with Tacoma establishing early momentum against Centralia College. Tacoma's offensive efforts were first rewarded in the 19th minute when Emma Hoover scored, assisted by Amelia Recardo, putting Tacoma ahead 1-0. The team continued to apply pressure, resulting in a second goal by Laura Corr at the 26th minute, with Polly Troyer providing the assist. Centralia's attempts were consistently halted by Tacoma's defense and goalkeeper Olivia Meyer, who recorded multiple saves. Tacoma further extended their lead with Railee Hutton scoring in the 44th minute. As the half closed, Tacoma led 3-0, setting a strong foundation for the remainder of the match.
The second half began with Tacoma strengthening their lead when Shalai Jamison scored at the 54th minute, extending the home team's advantage to 4-0. Tacoma's defense, led by goalkeeper Sarah Stochel, made crucial saves against Centralia's attempts, including shots by Maylania Mikaele and Kate Wisnewski. Despite efforts from Centralia, Tacoma maintained control, and the half concluded without further scoring changes, securing a 4-0 victory.
Tacoma established early control in the first half, capitalizing on Centralia's multiple fouls. Hoover broke the deadlock with a goal in the 19th minute, assisted by Recardo. Tacoma maintained pressure with a series of shots, leading to Corr's goal in the 26th minute, assisted by Troyer. Hutton extended Tacoma's lead to 3-0 with a goal in the 44th minute. Tacoma extended their lead in the second half with a goal from Jamison in the 55th minute, solidifying their position. Despite Centralia's attempts, including a shot on goal by Mikaele at the 61st minute, Tacoma's defense, anchored by Stochel, maintained a clean sheet. Tacoma's aggressive offense resulted in multiple shots, though some went wide or were saved, while Centralia struggled to capitalize, ending the half with Tacoma ahead 4-0.
Corr contributed to Tacoma's performance by scoring one goal from three shots, with one on target. Hutton matched Corr's effort with a goal as well, taking four shots, of which one was on target. Hoover scored the game-winning goal, converting one of her three shots, with two of them on goal. Recardo provided an assist, helping to facilitate the team's offensive efforts.
Harley-Bian played a crucial role in goal for Centralia, making six saves in 47 minutes of play. Mikaele was active on the offensive side, leading the team with four shots, three of which were on target. Krysta Hook managed to contribute with one shot on goal, showing her presence on the field.
