TCC Falls to Lower Columbia College 75-58
TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma Community College fell to Lower Columbia College, 75-58, after being outscored in the third quarter. TCC recorded 16 points off turnovers.
The opening quarter saw an intense back-and-forth between TCC and LCC, with the visitors edging out a narrow 18-17 lead. LCC jumped to an early 9-0 lead at the 7:28 mark, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Jaci Gonnie. TCC responded with Lanasha Lacy hitting two 3-pointers, narrowing the gap to 9-8. Jasmeen Kaur added a layup and an assist to keep TCC competitive. The quarter concluded dramatically, as Cherish Parham connected on a 3-pointer with just five seconds remaining, bringing TCC within one point.
LCC pulled ahead in the second quarter with strong scoring from inside the paint, overcoming an early lead by TCC. Lacy nailed a 3-pointer for TCC giving them a brief two-point lead. However, LCC responded with a 10-2 run, highlighted by layups from Shailoh Li'ili'i and Taylor Dagons, stretching their lead to 24-20. Despite TCC's defensive efforts, including a steal by Tamairah Allen that led to a Josephine Matau layup in the last minute before halftime, LCC maintained control. They closed the quarter with a layup by Lillian Bickford, ending the period with a 32-26 advantage.
Gonnie's two 3-pointers early in the third quarter helped LCC extend their lead, with a critical assist from Regan Brewer. TCC responded with a layup by Matau, but LCC maintained control. Li'ili'i's consistent inside scoring kept LCC ahead. TCC struggled to close the gap, and LCC held a 58-44 advantage by the end of the quarter.
LCC secured a decisive victory over TCC with a final quarter surge. Bickford contributed significantly with multiple layups extending their lead. Lacy hit a 3-pointer at 5:36, but it wasn't enough to close the gap. TCC's efforts, including a late layup by Kaur at 1:09, fell short as LCC held firm to win the quarter 17-14.
