TCC Faces Tough Challenge in Spokane
SPOKANE, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (0-9) fell to Spokane (8-3), 101-35, as Spokane capitalized on 38 turnovers to score 49 points off turnovers. TCC managed 28 rebounds and 7 steals but struggled with shooting, posting a 22.0 field goal percentage.
The first quarter began with Spokane establishing an early lead through a layup by Alahondra Perez, assisted by Camia Howard, just seconds into the game. TCC briefly took the lead with a three-pointer by Lanasha Lacy at 9:46, but Spokane quickly regained control. Spokane's defense was effective, forcing TCC into 14 turnovers while capitalizing on offensive rebounds, resulting in a 16-point lead by the end of the quarter. Perez contributed significantly with multiple layups, including a basket at 1:42 that extended Spokane's lead. TCC struggled to find offensive rhythm, concluding the quarter trailing 21-7.
In the second quarter, Spokane extended their lead over TCC with effective play in the paint, scoring 18 points. Spokane dominated the third quarter against TCC, outscoring the visitors 33-1. Spokane's Ayeris Jones and Howard were instrumental, with Jones contributing both in scoring and defense, including a three-pointer at 5:23 and multiple steals throughout the period. Spokane capitalized on TCC's turnovers, with a total of eight steals, notably from Stephanie Chadduck who also made an impact with a fast-break layup at the 13-second mark. Despite numerous attempts, TCC struggled offensively, managing only a single free throw, as Spokane extended their lead decisively.
Spokane dominated the fourth quarter, securing a decisive 101-35 victory over TCC. The home team was led by efficient scoring from Perez, who hit a jumper and a three-pointer early in the period. Jaida White contributed with a three-pointer and multiple assists, bolstering Spokane's offense. TCC struggled to find a rhythm, with Filipe scoring the majority of their points through free throws. Laney Green added a layup in the final seconds, but it was not enough to challenge Spokane's commanding lead.
