PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (0-5) fell to Chemeketa (3-1), 100-49, at Peninsula College, as TCC was unable to overcome 28 turnovers and a 55.1 percent shooting performance by Chemeketa.
The game opened with a strong start by Chemeketa, who quickly took control of the first quarter. Ava Rubio scored a layup at 7:46 to initiate the scoring for the visitors, followed by Patricia Mike's successful jumper at 7:02. Chemeketa maintained their momentum, with Mike hitting a three-pointer and a layup in quick succession, contributing to their lead. TCC's response came from Lanasha Lacy, who scored both a jumper and a three-pointer, closing the gap slightly. The quarter concluded with Chemeketa leading 21-10, as they capitalized on TCC's turnovers and strong defensive plays.
Chemeketa extended their lead in the second quarter, starting with a three-pointer from Bethany Villegas at 9:41, which set the tone for their offensive momentum. Laney Green led TCC's efforts with multiple layups, but Chemeketa's scoring consistency maintained their substantial lead, culminating in a final layup by Woolsey with 00:33 remaining.
