Tacoma CC Opens Season With Loss To Olympic College
BREMERTON, Wash. — Tacoma Community College fell to Olympic College, 86-44, with Olympic capitalizing on 23 points off turnovers and a 47-34 rebounding advantage. TCC's largest lead was four points in the first quarter, but Olympic controlled the rest of the game.
TCC opened the first quarter with a layup by Laney Green, who also contributed significantly with offensive rebounds, but Olympic responded quickly with a three-pointer by Cesaria Pelagio. Despite an early three-point shot from Tamairah Allen that gave TCC a brief lead at 11-7, Olympic took control with strong shooting from beyond the arc and effective free-throw conversions. Briella Herron was instrumental, scoring both from the line and beyond the three-point line, as Olympic built a substantial lead. A late layup and free throw by Ollie Decker further extended Olympic's advantage, closing the quarter with a 31-15 lead.
Olympic maintained their lead in the second quarter, despite TCC's effort to close the gap. TCC's Laney Green and Ikunaday Filipe each sunk a three-pointer early in the quarter, with Filipe's shot assisted by Tamairah Allen at 9:15. Olympic's Ollie Decker responded with consistent scoring, including a jumper at 7:33 and a free throw, extending their lead to 38-21. TCC continued to battle back with a three-pointer by Allen at 5:29, but Olympic's Briella Herron and Nashayla Fellows helped keep the home team ahead. The quarter ended with TCC outscoring Olympic 14-13, but Olympic held a solid lead overall.
Olympic dominated the third quarter, extending their lead significantly with a 25-5 run against TCC. Khi Tall Bull kicked off the scoring with a jumper at 9:29, setting the tone for the home team's offensive surge. Olympic's defense was equally robust, forcing six turnovers and securing 14 rebounds. Whitley Goble contributed crucial points, including a three-pointer at 5:39, while Nashayla Fellows cemented Olympic's control with a layup assisted by Brooke Moehlmann at 00:37. TCC struggled to find their rhythm, with only two field goals and one free throw converted in the quarter.
In the final quarter, Olympic maintained their dominance to secure an 86-44 victory over TCC. Olympic's Briella Herron was pivotal, contributing a layup at 6:09 and successfully converting four free throws. TCC's Lanasha Lacy provided a spark with a three-pointer at 5:49 and an assist to Jasmeen Kaur for a layup at 6:24. The quarter concluded as Khi Tall Bull hit a three-pointer for Olympic at 0:53, widening the final margin.
