Lady Titans Hoops Come Up Short
March 13, 2017
The 2017 NWAC Women's Tournament started out at 8am, Saturday, March 11th with the Peninsula Lady Pirates taking on the Tacoma Lady Titans. The first half was a breeze for Tacoma's Bobbi Westendorf as she chipped in 20 points in the first half to lead all scorers with 36 points by games end. Tacoma went into the half down 35 - 32.
The second half started and Peninsula never looked back, with Peninsula sophomores Taisha Thomas (20 pts, 10 reb, 2 blk) and Jenise McKnight (17 pts & 8 reb) doing what they could to secure the win.
Bobbi Westendorf finished with 36 points and 14 rebounds, and Sidra Malik chipped in with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 assists.
This marks the final game for the Lady Titans during their 2016-17 season. Tacoma Community College Athletics would like to thank coaches Christy Martin and Danah Haley for their contributions to TCC Athletics and creating a new standard and style of basketball in the women's basketball program. The Lady Titans finish the season 20-8, making the tournament for the first time since 2013.
