Tacoma's Season Ends in NWAC Semifinal Match
TUKWILA, Wash. — Tacoma was defeated 2-0 by Columbia Basin on Friday in the NWAC Semifinal game held Starfire Stadium. This game marked the end of the season. Despite TCC's six shots on goal, they were unable to find the back of the net, while CBC scored twice in the second half to secure the win.
In a tightly contested first half, both Tacoma and Columbia Basin struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, resulting in a scoreless draw at halftime. TCC managed five shots, with three requiring saves by CBC's goalkeeper, Caleb Coronel. Meanwhile, TCC's defense, led by goalkeeper Andrew Wagenblatt, withstood CBC's pressure, making three crucial saves. TCC also had an advantage in corner kicks, earning four to CBC's two.
Columbia Basin maintained offensive pressure in the second half, opening the scoring with a goal by Jorge Perez in the 52nd minute, assisted by Sebastian Magana and David Ochoa. Despite efforts from TCC, including a save by CBC's Caleb Coronel off Davyd Fedina's shot, the visitors were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. CBC's Eric Hodges secured the result with a goal in the 90th minute, assisted by Rudy Silva, closing the match with a 2-0 lead.
Andrew Wagenblatt made six saves over the course of 90 minutes, conceding two goals. Porter Herbig maintained pressure with two shots, both on target. Fedina led TCC with four shots, three of which were on goal, demonstrating offensive consistency. Kuan-Lin Chen added to the attack with one shot on goal.
Jorge Perez delivered a crucial performance for CBC, scoring the first goal of the match. His efficiency was highlighted by his perfect shot accuracy. Hodges also found the back of the net, contributing a goal from his lone attempt. Magana provided an assist and managed two shots, one of which was on target. In goal, Coronel played a pivotal role, recording four saves and maintaining a clean sheet.
TCC holds a record of 13-6-5 overall and 9-2-4 in conference play. CBC stands at 17-1-1 overall with an 8-1-1 conference record.
