Donovan Gill Leads Tacoma In Narrow Loss To Centralia
Tacoma Community College (5-16, 0-8) faced a tough match against Centralia College (13-9, 3-5), falling 79-71 on Saturday. Despite forcing 21 turnovers and capitalizing with 24 points from those opportunities, TCC couldn't quite close the gap on Centralia's commanding second-half lead.
The game started with Centralia quickly gaining momentum as Luke Brewer landed a layup within seconds. Tacoma struggled to find their rhythm early, missing several three-point attempts. Meanwhile, Centralia's Maximus Holliman was a consistent force inside. Donovan Gill's late 3-pointer trimmed the gap slightly, but Centralia held strong. A missed layup by Andrew Collins ended the half with TCC's Henry Benninghoven securing the rebound, leaving Centralia ahead 33-22.
Throughout the second half, Centralia maintained their lead despite Tacoma's efforts. Gill's early three and Amare Brown's solid play kept Tacoma in the game. Holliman and Brewer's timely baskets pushed Centralia to a 20-point advantage midway through. Tacoma mounted a late rally, with Samuel Taylor sinking a crucial 3-pointer, but Centralia clinched the win with a final layup by Julian Ibarra.
