Lide Shines Despite Tacoma Loss to LCC
TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma Community College fell to Lower Columbia College, 66-57, on Wednesday in a closely contested matchup at home. TCC shot 87.5% from the free-throw line, converting 14 of 16 attempts.
The game opened with Tacoma's Jakoi Lide scoring a layup assisted by Amare Brown, setting the tone for a back-and-forth first half. LCC quickly responded, with Noah Schow and K Jackman-Thomas contributing to a narrow lead. TCC momentarily pulled ahead with a three-pointer from Donovan Gill, assisted by Samuel Taylor, at the thirteen minute mark. However, LCC closed the half with a decisive 9-0 run, highlighted by a last-second layup and free throw from Machaon Savedra, securing a 30-21 lead at the end of the half.
LCC maintained their advantage in the second half, highlighted by Schow's early layups, which extended their lead to 34-21. Tacoma's Lide responded with a series of successful plays, including a jumper two minutes into the half, but LCC's consistent scoring kept the pressure on. James Grose contributed significantly with a three-pointer at ten minutes, pushing LCC to a 52-36 lead. Despite TCC's attempts to narrow the gap, including a late layup by Lide with 16 seconds left, LCC secured a 66-57 victory, matching TCC's 36 points for the half.
