TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma Community College fell to Palm Beach State College 66-48 on Thursday. Tacoma struggled from beyond the arc, converting only 13.6% of their three-point attempts.
The game opened with Palm Beach State College taking an early lead, thanks to Carter Mungin's swift layups, putting Tacoma on the defensive. Mungin scored eight of the first ten points for Palm Beach, establishing a strong start. TCC struggled to find their rhythm, with Tacoma's Dylan Wiggins scoring their first points on a layup at the 16:34 mark. Palm Beach maintained control throughout the half, extending their lead to a maximum of 20 points, highlighted by Marvin Golf's performance in the paint. Grant Lanier closed the half for Tacoma with successful free throws, narrowing the deficit to 37-22 at the end of the first half.
The second half saw Palm Beach State College maintain control with consistent scoring and defensive pressure. Ashton Romney opened the half with a quick layup and free throw, extending their lead early. TCC responded with Donovan Gill's layup at 17:08, but Palm Beach's Mungin added a layup of his own shortly after. Despite Tacoma's efforts, including a three-pointer from Lanier at the 15:00 mark, Palm Beach held a substantial lead. Jovan Palavra's free throws further solidified Palm Beach's advantage, and a late fast-break layup by Jaiden Pennicott sealed their 66-48 victory.
