Three Titan Home Runs in Loss to Clark
VANCOUVER, Wash. — Tacoma (11-14, 5-7) fell to Clark (9-16, 4-4) in a high-scoring contest, with a final score of 10-7 at Kindsfather Field on Saturday. This matchup marked Game 4 of the four-game series, and despite Tacoma managing to hit three home runs during the game, they were unable to overcome Clark's five-run sixth inning.
Tacoma opened the scoring in the first inning with Kaden Cretti doubling and Ty Iddon driving him in with a double of his own. Vaughn Lowe added an RBI single to put TCC ahead 2-0 after one inning.
In the third inning, Iddon hit a solo home run, extending Tacoma's lead to 3-0. Clark responded with a two-run homer by Jase Pashales, tying the game at 3-3 by the end of the third inning.
Clark took the lead in the fourth with an RBI single from Drew Yount, bringing the score to 4-3 in favor of Clark.
In the sixth inning, Clark capitalized on a series of plays, including a two-RBI single by Kaedon Cruse, to score five runs and extend its lead to 8-3.
Elijah McNair-Neal homered in the seventh inning for Tacoma, but Clark added two more runs in their half, making it 10-4 in favor of Clark.
Tacoma rallied in the eighth with Lowe's RBI double followed by a two-run homer from Austin Nelson, narrowing the deficit to 10-7.
The ninth inning was scoreless, and Clark secured the win with a final score of 10-7 over TCC.
Devin Tep started the game for Tacoma, pitching 3 1/3 innings and allowing three earned runs on three hits, including a home run, while striking out five batters. Tep also issued five walks and hit one batter over 87 pitches, of which 51 were strikes. Connor Speer came in relief, pitching 2 1/3 innings and yielding five earned runs on two hits, striking out one, and walking two, while hitting two batters. Reece Boekenoogen closed out the game with 2 1/3 innings, surrendering two earned runs on four hits, with two walks and two hit batters.
