Centralia
Oscar Hyde, a sophomore left-handed pitcher for Tacoma Community College's baseball team, has been named NWAC Athlete of the Week. Hyde earned this recognition for his outstanding performance during the opening weekend of West Region conference play.
Hyde delivered a complete game shutout in a 6-0 victory over Centralia. In this nine-inning outing, Hyde faced 35 batters, allowing only five hits while striking out nine and issuing six walks. His ability to navigate through multiple base runners was crucial in keeping Centralia scoreless and securing a split in the four-game series for Tacoma.
This performance not only marks Hyde's first college shutout but also exemplifies his pivotal role in the team's success. Tacoma Community College concluded the series with a 2-2 split against Centralia, setting the stage for the rest of their conference play.
In addition to his athletic achievements, Hyde is also recognized for his academic accomplishments as a recipient of the Winter Dean's List.
The team will continue conference play today.
