BELLEVUE, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (4-1) narrowly fell to Bellevue College (2-8) with a final score of 5-4 on Sunday at Courter Field. This was Game 3 of 4 in their series. TCC's Ethan Mar contributed with two RBIs, but Bellevue managed to clinch the win with a run in the ninth inning.
Tacoma and Bellevue faced off in a closely contested game. In the first inning, Kaden Cretti scored TCC's opening run on a wild pitch after reaching base with a single and advancing to third. Tacoma managed one run, but Bellevue responded with three runs in the bottom half, aided by two errors and an RBI single by O. Young, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Bellevue team after the first inning.
The fifth inning saw Tacoma draw even. Tyson Rather walked and scored on a sacrifice fly by Braden Jones, while Nate Jetton scored on a bases-loaded walk to Vaughn Lowe. This effort tied the game at 3-3 through five innings.
In the seventh inning, Braden Jones was hit by a pitch, advanced on an Ethan Mar single, and scored on an error to give Tacoma a brief lead. However, Bellevue responded in the bottom of the inning with an unearned run from C. Kennelly, leveling the score at 4-4 heading into the eighth inning.
In the ninth inning, Bellevue secured the win. After O. Young singled and advanced on an error, T. Wood was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in the decisive run. Bellevue emerged victorious with a final score of 5-4.
Oscar Hyde pitched 6 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 7 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. Hyde demonstrated control by limiting Bellevue to 1 double and recording a ground-out into a double play. Juan Hernandez-Mendoza followed with 2 innings, conceding 1 run on 1 hit and 3 walks, also striking out 2 batters. Atticus Manning pitched a third of an inning, giving up 1 earned run on 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 hit-by-pitch, while recording no strikeouts.
